Default XPOST: FEELER THREAD:EAST COAST GTG?

edit: this would be open to any Porsches

All,
I know there is the 944Fest and some local (MD., VA., Fla., NY/NJ) gtg's out there, or people at least people asking/inquiring for or about one.

However, would there be any interest for a large "weekend" 944/951 GTG/Rally, closer to home? You know....like a "vacation" destination, but one that had amenities close by (e.g. like a track).

some ideas from past car associations (not porsche):
-poker run
-gtg at the beach (send the wife/kids/GF to the beach<if they are not into cars> while we ride/track)
-gtg at or near a track ( can be rented for the day)
-golf tourney or just for fun
-car show/swap meet
-non-sanctioned DE/Auto X event (can rent a large parking lot for the day...usually from a store that is out of business-Old Kmart, HQ, etc...)
-Casino weekend (Atlantic City)
-Track day, then big cookout//party w/ live band(s) afterward.
etc., etc...

We would try and fit a few of these in over a weekend. Typically the poker run (very, very fun), golf tourney & party/cookout.

What do you think?

might be interested...in what area were you thinking? Only reason I have not gone to 944fest yet is the somewhat long ride from NJ.

That is the response I have been getting from alot of people...so a bit closer, Probably central east coast...somewhere between Maryland and N.C.

Response thus far has been pretty good

May be interested, if there is track time, or linked with a PCA/NASA/whatever club track day.

NJMP (New Jersey Motorsports Park) would be perfect forsuch a get together, IMHO...

This would be a more reasonable distance for me. Which I would be down for anything.

NJMP is in South Jersey - a good 2.5 hours south of the metro NY area, but it is probably the most centrally located track in the NE. Summit Point in W-VA would also work...

Road atlanta is 10 mins from my house, and PCNA is 45 mins away... but I know that is too far away for most of you.

i'd be in, a range from VIR area in VA (i've lived near it) to NJMP. while i've always wanted to go to limerock and rd. atlanta, they seem too far for some, including me.

I remember reading about a track in Northern VA also. it's about 5 miles off of Rt. 81, i'll have to do some searching for the name.

I am refering to the 928 specialist GTG here in the mountains. They have a great following and always have a strong turn out. Probably 50-75 cars. I just would want to talk to those guys before we crash their party. It is a great time to be here in the mountains and there are tons of good roads - lots to do.
just a suggestion.
