Some of you might know that I've ordered a fiberglass hood for my car from IFC - these guys: http://www.allporscheracing.com/
Anyhow, I got the hood a few days ago. It was nicely packaged up in a large cardboard box padded with a bunch of styrofoam.
After taking it out, I noticed a few surface scrapes and light scratches, but nothing to worry about.

Here's the backside:

Where a hinge attaches - there's a piece of metal inside there that's been tapped for the bolts.

And, finally, I put it on the scale, and was a little disappointed it weighs 20 lbs. But, I imagine that's still much lighter than stock. I was just hoping for 11 lbs...![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)

(My scale read 26lbs with a 25lb barbell on it.)
In a week or two, when I get some free time, I'll get it on the car and let everyone know how the fit is.

Hmmm, I have been looking to pull the trigger on this hood for a while now, looking forward to your opinion of the fit. Weigh your stock hood for us if you don't mind, I'm guessing ~40lbs. How much was shipping if you don't mind Van, I keep kicking around making a trip down there to pick one up...

Tell me about it... under new Cup rules I can lose over 150lbs from my current config, and I am already stripped down. Still running glass and all metal bodywork.

Van, im very interested with your impression of the fitment, presentable for a street car or looks good at speed. The one on my car needs a repaint anyhow, a fiberglass hood replacement would make the deal a little sweeter. Are you going to use hood pins in conjunction with the stock latch?
Kind of a moot point, but no provision for windshield wiper jets? I figure you can adapt the ones that mount on the wiper arms.

Jon, I'm only going to use hood pins - not the stock latch. I've decided to spring for the aerocatch ones. ![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)

I'm not going to put the windshield washers in... but one easily could. This fiberglass hood came out of a mold that was made from a factory metal hood - and the washer locations are clearly visible. With a dremel tool, you'd easily be able to re-create the holes. Also, because the construction is like the factory hood, there's space underneath for the plumbing/wiring.
For my purposes, I'm going to put a little body filler over those marks...

someone around here had a set of pins like those
modded Honda Del Sol, I think, really nice car, turbo charged with intercooler, lowered for a/x, CF stuff, very nice
can you have IFC make the bumper for you? or are they all "pre-made"? that way you could have them w/o the washer indents on it, right?

Roman, you mean the headlight washers in the bumper? You can get plugs for those holes.
I'm going to stick with the factory bumper, just using the fiberglass hood. And on the hood, a little body filler will cover those windshield washer indentations right over.
You've got a good eye if you can identify that car from that shot - it was just the first one that came up with google images.

the website that hosted all my pictures went down the drain and doesn't work anymore, so I can't show you pics of that car
but the guy liked them, like anything - takes time to get used to!
the alternative is this:

*friend's car*
his hinge broke, so he decided to go with pins because it is like 1/10th of the cost of a new VW hood hinge; he wanted those aero pins too, but not for stock hood (cutting that etc is just not worth the effort!)
