Question 944 Rear Emblem: What holds it in place?

What holds the rear 944 emblem in place? screws? clips? glue? I'm lookin at gettin my car painted after i get my nose from fiberwerks, i know how to get the stone gaurges off (industrial hot air blower) but how do i get the 944 off? i don't want to spend 12 bux or whatever it is when i can put it back on. Thanx for the help.

Typically double sided tape. Sort of a thick rubber base to it with stickum on each side. When you pull it off you will see.

It should come off easier than the stone guards. You might even be able to reuse it. However, $12 is a drop in the bucket when having the car repainted. My car is under the (spray) gun as well. I have already ordered a new "944" emblem and "PORSCHE" decal for the rear end. I also ordered a set of splash guards. I figure these will offer more protection to the new paint than the stone guards. I don't like those stone guards much.

Use dental floss as a "saw" to remove it. Saves the ebmlem and does not screw up the finish below. An old school trick for when the emblem is NLA. Takes effort but it pays off.

Dental floss is a cool trick!

I use Goof-off or 3M adhesive remover to lift the sticky stuff.

When I bought my car I was missing the "S" in 944 S and my 944 was starting to come off, and there were some gray areas where the paint had come off the emblem. So I pulled it off, cleaned off the car and the emblem of old tape, and re-painted it with black spray paint. A few coats later I put the 944 and new S back on with a little bit of epoxy and bang, good as new Just be careful when you put it back on to line it up straight, it can be kind of tough, hopefully you will be able to tell how it was on there before when you go back to put it on.
