more thinking...
could it get as low as $300-325 per set. i think that price would make it a real affortable item. perhaps we can get a rennlist member purchase of 3-6 units and get that price?

I suppose with that price there is not much profit left for Mark & Beni. When they make these N/A version of light kit there are several time consuming steps.

1. make a prototype from 951 buckets. This takes a lot of time since mould is made from this prototype.

2.make a mould from prototype

3. make final product

4. make clear glass, cutting, bending & painting black "frame" = time consuming

All of these steps takes quite a lot time. Also the shape of these buckets are a little bit tricky, so you must be extra careful to ensure the final product is laminated perfectly.

Also to make GF products you have costs, you must get all necessary GF stuff, drive around to get all these together. And the most important issue:
Making GF products is a real messy procedure, epoxy smells really bad, GF mats are tricky to handle and sanding GF causes also messy environment. I know, i have done a lot of GF parts.
I also have a D9 951 buckets, they are #1 what comes to quality & fitment, in my opinion the price is just right, after all D9 is established to make business.

olli,
pls post a pic of your car with the lights.

maybe they can be group sold (3-6pieces) for less than the $500+ dollars. once the mold is made, production costs come down. we'll see?? are there any other light convertion kits available that look as good??

I mean, its not like this is one of the ebay kits, when they buy a shattered headlight, paint it black inside, put new glass on it and then sell it for $300

also, Olli - keep mentioning using a 951 mold, why not use the N/A headlight to make a kit for the N/A? kind of fresh start?

the kit probably won't be less then $500, hopefully I will have the $$$ for one when it comes out

If there was a high enough demand, a lot of the production could be outsourced, reducing costs. But it's a chicken - egg problem. How much demand would there be at what cost?

It's a gorgeous kit, and it saves weight, but it's 10% to 15% of the value of the car!

i usually find something out of my price range, get obsessed about owning it and eventually buyiing it, even though i can't really afford it. i bought a saratoga glass roof that i couldn't do without and now, i am thankful that i bought it ($800).
this lens cover might become my next thing i can't be without. anyone else feel this way?

Hi Guy's just a quick update

We have now finished the product development and are about to install onto a nice N/A to take some pictures of. As soon as Beni has the pictures I'll post them up for all to see.

Best regards and all the best to everyone for 2009
Mark

P.S. Work has also just started on the dual GTS kit which features twin 90mm round Hella lights which when finished will be really well sculpted into the design a bit like the Ferrari 360 if you know what I mean. The dual kit will first be available for the 951/2 & S2 and once that’s done then we will do the same for the 924 & 944 N/A models

It's a common ailment. Sometimes you gotta buy something stupid just so you can stop wanting to buy it!

Unfortunately, I've just sunk about $1,200 on suspension and seating upgrades, so my "stupid money" fund is tapped out for a while.

I'm still up for these, but as my car is almost ready to go back on the road I'm going to stick with the temporary ones for a short while. However once I've settled the final bill for the bodywork I'm sure I'll be giving you a call

couldn't agree more

that's why I keep looking at something I "want" really bad

I think I might get a set of wheels, then sell the ones I have now, and use that money for *not sure what yet*

lol

Me too!

Seats. plus Koni adjustables front and rear, 250# springs, solid tower mounts. And a chip.

Hi my name is Mike and I'm a Porsche-holic.

I tried, but I just can't stop driving my old Porsche and buying new parts to make it faster, lighter, and shinier. I tried to cut back - only doing this on weekends or with friends, but I couldn't resist haha
