Deutsch Nine starts development of the GTS headlight kit for all 924 & 944 N/A cars
Hi all - First time I've posted in the 924/44/68 forum but due to the amount of emails we are receiving about why we have not developed our GTS headlight kit for the early cars, now that we have a bit of time on our hands the development work has started
First a quick look at our kit for the 944 Turbo / S2 cars if some have not seen this kit before (and link to the original development thread HERE):
And now for some current development picture progress of the 924/44 NA version:
First we have had to start modifying the front leading edge to fit the 924 & 944 N/A cars front badge panel (First 3 pictures)
Next after having created a perfect mould of the OEM steel lid covers (before finishing)
We expect the development to be completed in the next 3 weeks so I will promise to kep the pictures coming and answer any question
As for the 951/S2 cars we will also be developing a dual headlight version (2 lights per bucket) and HID but this will not be completed until end of Q1 09.
Best regards,
Mark

Really nice looking. I'm looking forward to when they're ready. I think they'd look good on a dark colored car.
What's the weight savings with removing the popups?

Thanks Guy's we will be dropping the price on this kit also to make it more available
931GT - we intend of first installing this kit on a replica 924 GTS so some great pictures will follow.
We already have about 15 interested mainly in Europe for the kit some can look at setting up a RL discount group buy when they are finished.
Cheers,
Mark

i'd be interested, as the one's i bought from gt racing suck. the fit is horrible and the lights provided wouldn't light the road but a couple meters. i only use them now because i've changed the lights and don't feel like reinstalling the stock

Personally, I GREATLY appreciate any, and all products developed for our cars. Sadly, not many vendors put much time into 924 and 944 non Turbo development. Thankfully there are a few people out there including those from Deutsch Nine that are willing to put time and money together to bring us really top notch quality stuff.
So again, thanks Mark and the rest of the D9 group.
ps. I am really looking forward to seeing what the Xenon Kit will look like. Although I still prefer my pop-ups due to the all red completeness of the look.

It's not my thing (since I like the pop up lights - it's fun!), but jeez did you do a nice job on that. Looks almost factory.
What are the differences between the n/a and Turbo cars...they look the same to me.

Alex if you would like a set of our Plexiglas molded covers to help you develop your own kit then let me know and I will sort something out for you.
I to also love the pop-up lights but the performance is poor hence why I developed the Dual pop-up kit back in early 1995 for ultimate road use (this was a very challenging kit to engineer). I’ve been running this kit ever since and the performance is stunning and the lower profile also helps the visual looks and lower drag (all be it very marginal).
The GTS kit we developed is purely for function and period looks. The GTS kit is seriously light weight and with the removal of all of the ancillary pop-up units, this allows far more options regarding bigger IC, MAF filter location. The actual light performance is not by any means much of an improvement over the stock units to be honest but that’s not the main purpose behind the project.
About 70% of current users use the GTS kits for race/track but more people are now installing them on their road cars.
They also look great with the buckets painted to match the color of the bodywork as shown below - This works best on light colored cars:
