Darwin, that's interesting, do you know if your car was equipped with that cover as stock? I thought they were 968 only.

968 rear cubbies are a nice way to fill the void of deleted rear seats. But a set can cost over $1500 and you can't get picky with the color - you get whatever you can find!

If/when I delete my rear seats, I would still leave the frame of the top folding part installed, with simple upholstery. My thinking is, sometimes it's beneficial to have a smaller trunk, and a trunk with a wall. I wouldn't want my groceries like fruit or bottles rolling forward into my way.

Is there a way to mold carpet so it fits?
When I re-carpeted my 924, I took the seat base to an upholstery shop and had them cover it in trunk liner in the same black as my carpet. Trunk liner will fit and stick to the curvers better than carpet which is fairly rigid. The seat base doesn't weigh anything anyway, it is just foam, and it is a nice solution to smooth out the ridges and bumps in the factory steel underneath. 95% of your weight savings come from removing the seat back.

I don't get why you people are driving with dogs in your Porsche.

How much do the rear seats all together weigh?

Yes, I had it folded down in 'don't steal me' mode. It sits upright on runs and I keep my camera handy in the center tray. Believe it or not I can fit a 12-pack Igloo cooler in the seat well and quite a bit of stuff in the other side well. My old rear seat had minor water damage when I bought it and didn't plan on having legless passengers ever riding in back.

I see you made it back...any pics of the Home Depot chip guards?
