you should be able to find a thicker gasket though..cometic?
Why would it not work? Keep in mind that I know nothing about 944 headgaskets.

That's how I dropped the compression in my 2.slow VW engine.

unless u stacked like 10 gaskets it woudln't make a difference.

a 1mm difference in gasket height would only be like 0.1-0.2 compression ratio difference.

i dont think that the gasket material is designed to seal against itself...all its made for is to join two big pieces of machined aluminum and keep fluids from mixing...i would think the engine would eat up 2 gaskets in no time.

So a thick headgasket (not stacked) would be the way to go.... or swap in turbo pistons.

What about an exhaust manifold. I heard that the turbo and NA manifolds are not interchangeable. Does anyone make a turbo manifold for a NA?

Ok to make sure no one decides to try such an idea

The open deck design is hard enough to keep sealed let alone trying to stack gaskets.

the NA manifolds are interchangeable with the turbo units however they will not line up with the exhaust/ crossover flange ..speaking from experience

IMO if one is hell bent on lowering the compression to run pump fuel the best option is to
1)buy a set of turbo pistons and rods ~200
2) new bearings ~75
3) new rings ~ 100
4) pan gasket ~80
5) head gasket ~ 80

not really that expensive

you would probably be best served to read some of my threads in the turbo area.

depending on which car , makes a difference. One is twin scroll (custom crossover) and the other has a custom header that puts the turbo in the pass. headlight area.

hehe yea the 951 can be called a remote mounted. intake is driver side. exhaust is on the pass side. then there's a crossover pipe which goes under the engine to the driver side, where the turbo is mounted.

although most ppl think remote mounted means underneath body

oh ok but still for the amount of $$$ you are going to spend on the kit and building up the engine you can get an entire 951 engine tranny harness and IC for that...
