Default New springs didn't lower car????

I just installed new 200# weltmeister springs on my '87 924S and expected about a one inch drop, seeing how the new springs are atleast an inch shorter than the stock ones. but the ride height didnt change.

was there some kind of adjustment that i need to make?
how high should the top of the strut stick out of the upper mount bolt? before the swap i had 5 threads showing, so i kept it that way.

thanks,
Justin

Give it a couple days of driving to settle before you worry about it. Almost every time I have ever lowered a car, my first thought was "It looks the same". The one exception was when I briefly installed a used uber-slammed system on my Jetta.

it also could be that the old springs sagged so much that they DID drop the car an inch already hehe.

Have they settled?

You may want to loosen the mounting bolts while the car is static and then re-tighten. Sometimes that helps. I have sold several sets that don't lower some cars, but do others with no real explanation why. My last adventure was with a 997 C2. H&R's didn't lower it as much as they were supposed to, but Eibach's did. Still don't know why......

I don't know if there's a given answer, but with daily measurments on my Miata it took about 200 miles of driving to settle.

guess ill just burn up some gas for a week on my favorite (twisty) roads and see what happens.
if its gonna change it needs to be fast, cause im lookin at tires with a smaller sidewall, and i dont want the gap to get any bigger.

beerburner, how far away is Sterling from the peninsula?

mine were lowered instantly, but it is a possibility your springs were sagging already.

I figure I'm about four hours from you in northern VA. And if your springs were sagging, you'd get whatever benefits you'd get from the change in spring rates. Unfortunately, I don't know what the stock rates are so I can't comment...

Stock rates are like 125lbs I think. There's more to the upgrade than just being lowered.

Did you lower the rear yet?

i have no clue of the stock spring rates
and i had planned on lowering the rear via the eccentric adjustment after i did the front (technically still not lowered) and as soon as im clear on how to do it.

i couldnt find any pics in past threads... i need pics.
