Default Best BAttery for a 1987 944S

I looked at the Optoma site, no batts are listed for our cars.

I would like to get a red top as I hear they are the best.

What model would work with my car.

Thanks,

-Pete

I'd also like to know, my car will not even turn over in this 20 degree weather. I looked and it has 520CCA. wouldn't turn a lawnmower over in this weather with them CCA

I went through 3 redtops and a yellowtop. Each one lasted less than a year. Autozone is good about replacing them under warranty, but if I had to order one from anywhere less than a local auto parts store, I wouldn't.

Then again there are people that have had nothing but good things to say about them, I'm just telling you my personal experience. 2 redtops died in my weekend driven classic mustang, and a redtop and yellowtop died in my girlfriends daily driven RSX. I've been running nothing but autozone duralast with their awesome warranty and have had no complaints.

I have a friend who is an Optima battery dealer and he told me not to waste my money and just go to Advance Auto as they have the best no hassle warranty out there...

Bosch ---Group 41
CCA at 0 degrees F=650
CCA at 32 degrees F=815

PEP Boys carries for about $100 exchange and Bosch has a $20 rebate now.
I have one in my '88 924S and plan to get one for the '87.

I love my DieHard from Sears, it started right up the other day when it was 18F and still had 20w-50 in the car. I know this doesn't just depend on the battery, but it's a big part.... don't worry I've since put the winter oil in.

Interstate MT-47 might be a better fit -- I just bought one the other day.

But I think I'm going to stop buying Interstate batteries -- I've had two failures of them in the last 5 years. (One died prematurely but was replaced under warranty, the second drained all the way and reversed polarity). Plus, the new Interstate batteries come in neon green casing, rather than plain black. I personally don't want any neon green component under the hood....

I was just at Pep Boys here in Chicago today and they have the Bosch group 41 for $79. It comes with a 36 month full replacement warranty and 96 month prorated warranty. I don't think you could do much better.

What's the info on the mail in rebate? Is there a form online somewhere?

I have the Bosch in my car. I just had a open cell error come up on it after just being a year and a half old but Pep Boys exchanged it without a problem.
