SeaCay, did you get my PM?

Thanks to both of you guys for posting the correct tool. My phone suggestion yesterday to Darwin about using a chainsaw was soundly rejected.

I don't know. I ALMOST took a chainsaw to the entire car! Hey Steve, if you need one of these things, lemme know. It'll make your aero mirror conversion a TON easier!

Thanks but I just ordered one from Newark Electronics, $12.75 after my discount and I can pick it up about 5 blocks from work. I wonder if it also works on the sensor, AFM, and injector connectors? It's too large for the DME plug I think.

Can someone explain to the clueless what this tool is used for?

I always try to catalog this stuff away in my brain for when I inevitably need it with this car.

If you want to replace the 944/951 mirrors with 968 mirrors, you have two choices, cut the wires or remove the wires from the connector.
These tools allows you to disconnect and reconnect the wires without cutting them.

Ah gotcha. Thank you!

I'm one of the few who really like the flag mirrors so I guess I wont be needing to remember that one

It also allows you to take apart your mirror when the pin falls out and you have a hanging mirror. I wish I saw this thread 5 years ago as I spent $100 labor for my local shop to pull the pins and put the spring and collar back on my flag mirrors, just to keep from cutting the wires. I am still mad about that.

Wait so this is needed to remove the mirrors AT ALL, without cutting the wires?

Yes, you have to pull the pins to pull the connector through the body of the mirror.
