Rod bearing replacement article?
A couple of months ago someone posted a link to an old article with the procedure for rod bearing replacement. I thought it was a Paragon tech article, but I looked and can't find it. What I'm really interested in is a photo that was attached that showed a wood assembly that was used to suspend the engine while the subframe is removed to access the oil pan.
Anybody got that link. . . please?
Thank you,
Scott

I used only a single wood beam, positioned over the motor mount brackets, and suspended the engine from those brackets with rope. That way I can close the hood about 3/5 of the way...

"I used only a single wood beam, positioned over the motor mount brackets, and suspended the engine from those brackets with rope." That's how I did it too. I'm right now in the process of replacing a leaky oil pan gasket and doing rod bearings WIIT... I now remember why racers prefer the manual rack - no PS lines and fluid to deal with...

O.K. well now I feel obligated to share a few pics of what is happening now LIVE in the garage.. Notice the spic-n-span oil pan after 175,000 miles (thanks to an exclusively synthetic oil diet).

Thanks guys. I'm going to more or less use the setup in the Paragon article - I'm doing this in conjunction with a clutch job, so my engine is going to be completely suspended. I think I'll feel much better laying under there with the engine hanging from 4X4 and heavy chain.
Nice pics Mike. I hope my oil pan/bottom end looks half that good at 106K miles.

that bracket is good. adding more support at the red lines is better.
