Nice Fire Extinguisher Mount from Stable Energies
I just installed a fire extinguisher mount (and extinguisher) that I purchased from Stable Energies.
Installation was simple, and the mount is very nice. It installs in front of the passenger seat, and it moves with the seat.
Cost of the mount was $50, and I purchased a 2.5 lb Halotron FE for another $100.
If anybody cares to see what it looks like, let me know and I'll post pics.
Cheers,
Mark

Where's a good/cheap place to get fire extinguishers(we want Halon ones correct?)
Also I want to mount it behind the drivers seat. Does anyone know where is a good place to get a behind the seat mount?

That would be a pretty good place because it would be out of all the passengers way.
The bad parts are:
A)I don't think there are any good mounting points for it around there. You would have to drill holes in the body. Not a big deal for racing but us street guys aren't big on that.
B)I don't think you would be able to fold down the rear seat. Once again bad for us street guys.

1. Don't go cheap with safety gear: it may save your life!
2. Your FE should be mounted in a place that is within easy reach of the driver while he's sitting buckled up (or harnessed in) the driver's seat. Behind the driver's seat may be too difficult to get to. If you're stuck in your seat with a fire, you want to get able to get to the FE quick and easy.

Oh, and regarding FE types: there are three basic types:
1. Dry Chemical: works, but leaves a corrosive mess that must be washed off immediately after a fire. Even then, electrical wires and rubber hoses will most likely be shot.
2. Halon: No longer being produced, but there are some still for sale. IIRC, Halon leaves no residue.
3. Halatron: Kinda like Halon, but friendlier to the environment. Halatron FE's will leave a non-corrosive residue that can be washed off and will not eat into wires...etc.
For more info, call Bob K. at Stable Energies: he can fill you in on all the details (and correct me if I'm wrong!) Stable Energies #: 973-773-3177

Mark-
Can you show how it mount to the seat so that it moves with the seat? I have a mount from Brey-Krause (mounted in same location) but it is in a fixed spot, does not move with the passenger seat.
Thanks!

Just to clarify a few more questions;
Is this manufactured by Stable Energies? And again is there a distributor on the west coast (so I can save some on shipping?)
TIA
