I like the dual-mode power/crank windows! LOL

Otherwise looks fairly decent... not dent-free, but few are... could do worse, if it runs OK and moves under its own power!

get rid of the window crank and get some early 944 stuff in there. i think that car would look good with a black interior.

But what about the rear timing belt? I would really be worried if he replaced the one and not the other.

I'd be concerned about the upper crank seals and the lower cam seals as well.

Good observation.

Interior seems a bit fishy. The "PORSCHE" door panels I thought were only on early 924's, hence the crank windows. And most, if not all, 931's had electric windows. The dual crank/electric is a big throwoff, never seen that before. Also has a electric sunroof button, even though I'm pretty sure 931's were all manual. Some 924 expert correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyways, if it runs/drives I'd grab it. Hell,I would get it too if it were closer and I had a spot to park it

And as far as finding parts/aftermarket it's pretty much the same as driving an early 944...except engine parts are way cheaper.

Metal gas tank and valves in the head that are very hard to find. Lots of heat issues without an intercooler. Primitive wiring. Mechanical speedometer. I would say if you were frustrated with the 44 multiply that by 3 for this car.....

If they're in the head - how hard can they be to find?

Lots of heat issues without an intercooler.
Is this advice from experience or anecdotal??? The early 924 turbos are reported to have a short turbo life due to excessive heat but this was definitely fixed with the Series 2 turbos. My 931 runs very cool and did so well before the intercooler was installed. The NACA duct is actually very functional and dissipates heat quite well.

Forgot to mention finicky fuel injection system with the expenisive fuel distributor.

Sorry - not trying to hate on the early 924 cars - just want to make an informed buyer. I had a Minerva Blue 931 that I wanted to restore but after learning more about these cars I gave up.

Fixed that for ya...

That's not a sunroof switch - it's a fader ****. And the Porsche door panels are not for the early cars, actually - but my 931's (81's and 82's) have had them. Looks like someone just retrofitted manual winders after the power motors died. Well, probably just the switches died, of course...

The fuel injection is no worse than a same-era 924 or 911. It's the ignition in the S2's that can be the problem, since you can't get crank pickups any more. But they can be converted to modern EFI...

There's a real mixed bag of knowledge here... you might be better off at 924board.org... sorry...
