car died on me while driving

Default car died on me while driving

I was on my way to class this morning. The car started up fine but I didn't even make it a mile with out it dieing. I waited a little and tried to start it again and it did but then died before I could even put my foot on the gas. I live in fairfax, va if anyone is willing to help me PM me and I will give you my phone number. I am not going anywhere so I will be online for a while.

sounds like dme relay..go to www.clarks-garage.com for testing
what year is your car?

I decided to have it towed to a shop. Lets hope the bill is not to high.

well right now the tech said that their is spark and no fuel, we will see what happens. Lets keep our fingers crossed

DME relay.....but if you bring it to a shop that doesn't work on these cars they're going to tell you it's the fuel pump. Buy one (DME relay) online and put it in before they do anything else.

yes if they haven't jumped the relay already I think youre in trouble

Please check your fuel pump fuse...it happened to me while driving on the highway.

DME relay, Speed or Ref sensor.
Just went through this nightmare.
Clarks-garage.com can be your friend on this one.
It is not enough to swap parts, although the relay is a very good place to start, after that, need to isolate whether you have fuel and/or spark.

Is your car the red 944 with the white strips that I have seen in Fairfax?

As I said before you better beat the tech to it if it's he doesn't regularly work on 944s. If he hasn't worked on that many 944s he will diagnose "no fuel" as a bad fuel pump...the symptoms are pretty much the same between that and a DME relay. A DME relay costs about $25 and a fuel pump is $200 if you're lucky. Replace the relay just to see, it is worth it.
