This may be a little more in depth - since I changed all my bushings...

All I can say is, you better do your homework. This is not something you want to dive into without being prepared, or you're going to be spending more hours than you realize. I also hope you got the right size torsion bar to match your spring rate up front, or you will have handling problems.

Chuck Moreland did a write on replacing spring plate bushings. In the process, he drops the torsion bar carrier.

I would not cut the hole, and have not - I completely remove the rear suspension from the car and work on it next to the car.

A great time to replace your torsion bar bushings and trailing arm bushings, if you're going to (ever). Highly recommended with higher t-bar rates.

have you considered coilovers as another option in rear? Ground Control has a what looks to be a VERY nice set for a decent price!

To give more information.....

Stooge- The kit Im installing is a used M030 option, with the front struts, rear shocks, torsions, and sway. Would this be the right way to go? as in the "balance" department?

924- I agree, Im not cutting that hole. No way. The car is not a daily driver, its a weekend toy. So, it can sit and wait while I get the job done.

Roman- you love those coilovers!! I think the sport option would be a better way to go for my needs.

Regardless of the rest of the parts - as you're seeing, installing and properly indexing the t-bars is a major job.

So you won't want to do it more than once.

If you track this car regularly - there's definitely some question that the M030 is stiff enough - still seems like a compromise for the street. Personally, I'd lean towards something much stiffer.

Then again, if it's only occasional track use, and you already have the M030, it may make sense still.

The car is going to be my autocross/ sometimes trackday car. Not full blown touring the coast with it, but I will be attending all of next seasons local events. Im on a tight budget with it and got a deal on the parts. I think this, along with a set of hoosiers should keep me competitive.

As for the install goes, I should probably replace some bushings as well. Can anyone provide links?

Thanks to everyone for the help, with posting info and giving advice. You guys are awesome. This would be my first time indexing a t-bar but I think if I take my time and work through it without a deadline in mind, things will go fine. I began spraying the major bolts with PB today, and will continue daily until the job starts. Now, I just need to get my compressor belt changed

Good: Weltmeister bushings from Paragon

Better: Racer's Edge and Elephant Racing bushings

I was looking at your other thread (with the torches) and I might do the same...

Well, if you got all the original M030 parts, one might guess that they should work together. I don't know what the spring rates are or what size is the torsion bars. That would verify that they are matched for good handling.

You don't mention anything about a rear sway. What are you doing there? Without one, it's going to understeer.

Well, Im getting a 20mm rear sway, which I think is still part of the M030 setup. Thats getting thrown on, too.

I've been looking at the bushings. Wow. I know the benefits of having upgraded bushings (coming from a rally background), but the prices are going to kick my ***. For my budget racer, these are going to have to be put on the back burner. I know Ill have to go back in to replace them, but now the moneys just not there.

I'm reading more and more about how to index and that seems to be my biggest challenge....

Can someone ballpark a list of things needed to complete this job?

i.e. Brake fluid, gear oil, etc....

Nothing. You don't need to touch the brakes or the transmission to swap torsion bars and suspension.
