Well, I couldn't find the original thread, but it's not necessary. Just weld a strip of 1/8" steel on all three sides like this. I've seen some add additional support around the bushing tube, but I didn't. I'll keep and eye out for cracks.

And when it's installed on the vehicle. Don't forget to leave room for the ball joints.
