Installed a Coverlay dash cover this weekend
Wow what a difference. The ease of installation and quality are not bad. I will post some pictures hopefully tomorrow night. Total install time was about 1/2 hr.
Best of all........No more dash cracks!!!!
Very happy with the product, it also has a lifetime warranty.

I have seen some that looked cheesy.. so bad I'll deal with looking at the cracks! Maybe it was a dofferent brand?
I'd LOVE to see one that looks nice!
I'm trying to find the carpet tops for the early dash- anyone make those anymore? Automotion had them about 8 years ago...

Chris, What color are you looking for? I have one in brown that I might be tempted to get rid of.

I paid $94 and chancge. I ordered directly from coverlay. www.coverlaymfg.com
The product does not look identicle to the texture of the original dash, but neither did the huge cracks that had formed!
The cover was very simple to install. First sand the dash lightly and then clean the dash with an Amonia based cleaner. Use the clear Silicone that was supplied and put it on around the edges in dime size drops every 12 inches. Set the cover on and put some weight on top of it. Mine had completely setup in 8 hrs.
Pictures will be up tonight.

Years ago I bought an 85.5 944 that has the coverlay. It looked so bad I ripped it off and replaced the entire dash.
I hope they have improved since than, my 88 is now showing signs of cracking.
Whats the deal if you have airbags?

They look good when first installed but I have heard a lot of stories about them warping from heat very quickly. Does anyone have one that still looks good after a year or two?

They offer a lifetime warranty. If mine warps I'll spend 1/2 hr. removing and installing the new replacement! On top of that my car remains garaged all the time, if it's not garaged I will have a sunshade in the window.
Man I love not looking at cracks!!!!!!!!!

This would be a winter project during the "rest and rehab" phase of the 924S.
I'm still not sold on coverlay- I have seen a lot of them warp- but it may be bad installations as well.

I installed a Coverlay on my black 84 about 6 months ago. While it appears better than my cracked dash, I have had a couple small problems.
First is a slight warp near the defrost vents. The other is related to installation. I installed the product using the supplied silicon but apparently did not do a quality job as it popped loose recently.
After re-thinking the attachment process, I'm wondering if anyone has tried the following approach (as a hoped for improvement over the silicon method). I was thinking of gluing/attaching some hook-n-loop (aka velcro) pads directly to the dash and then gluing a matching set to the underside of the coverlay dash. The perceived bennie here is a firm attachment that has some give to it ...
Kind Regards,
DL
