Cool

Awesome!! Can't wait to see how it looks installed. I've always liked that seat. Anyway, have fun installing it, It'll be interesting to see how easy it is to put in. I'll be in the garage today installing my 930S steering wheel which arrived today also (woohoo!). It should be comfy in there because we just got a space heater to keep it relatively warm while I'm in there. Anyway, sweet seat...it should be tons of fun in an autocross

TarHeel,

I got it especialy for autocross. The workmanship on the brackett looks to be quite good. They even give you an allen wrench to take out the previous seat with! I've always liked the 930S wheel too. Maby that will be my next upgrade...

How much did the seat and bracket set you back? Where did you get it? I need a low buck replacement for my torn seats.

Bucket seats kick ***! I've got a pair of Recaros in my car...

It's nice to stay put while driving - you'll see as soon as you get that installed

Can you use the regular seat belts or do you need 4/5 point harnesses? I'm looking into this as well and was leaning towards the not-one-piece seats because i drive the car on the street alot. Does anyone have an opinion on dealing with them everday?

Ken, Porsche used regular 3pt belts in the 968CS which was equipped with one-piece bucket seats...

Check this picture, basically you just route the regular belt through the lap belt hole.

In a word, "bastardization".

The seat bracket was too wide by arround a 1/4 inch. So, after becoming a master of the Dremmel arts, it's in and lookin good! the seating position is good, but feels funny. I guess that it will just take some getting used to...

I found what the seat was missing... LUMBAR SUPPORT!! So, I just cut a piece of foam and am making a case for it. The seat and bracket together were $306 and some change. Not the cheapist, but was in my price range. I think it's a good upgrade.

My only question is, do you lose some of the hold of the seatbelt by having it pass over the high part of the seat by the buckle? Or does that not come into play because the seats aren't that deep? I just haven't been in a car with one piece seats to look at this stuff. Thanks for your help.

Dan,

The seat has sort of a "booster" in it that is removeable. I use it becaue I'm not that tall!(5'7") Even with the "booster" it seems to sit a _little_ bit lower, but not by much. However, if you take out the "booster" you sit about an inch lower! However, I don't find this position very comfortable due to the VERY large lump under your knees. The only thing that really needs to be addressed in the seat is lumbar support. Corbeau offers an inflateable lumbar support for somthing like $77, but it wasn't worth it to me. I have some high density foam that I cut and wrapped in an old pillow case and stapled the ends. It works very well.

However, when it comes to the install, you NEED to use a Dremmel. Like I siad earlier, the door side holes are about 1/8 inch off. You can sue the Dremmel to "oval" the holes to lign up right.

Overall, not too dificult install and well worth it! Again, I would like the thank the soloracer.com people for all of thier help!
