Hello!
Hi there everybody. We're Joe & Gina Sasser from Beaumont, TX. We just purchased our 1st Porsche (84 944), and even though it is a fun fun fun car to drive, I'm learning (via Carfax vs Reality) that this car seems to have seen much better days.
Will post pics as soon as the rest of the film is shot up. But I've got a few newbie questions.
Where can I get a reprinted owners manual?
How does the AC kick on? (It's 90+ here HOT HOT HOT)!!!

I will look at my 944 when I get home but if I remember right, to turn on A/C... uh... slider levers all the way to the left, turn the **** thing all the way to the blue.

Reprinted owners manuals are available from a variety of suppliers, and I'd bet the local Porsche dealership could get one for you. Tweeks (www.madirect.com) has them, and <a href="http://www.paragon-products.com" target="_blank">www.paragon-products.com</a> might.
I still haven't figured out all those climate control *****/ levers in my car. But in the center of the center consol, between the oil gauge and the clock, is the AC **** with another rotating piece around it. Turning the main **** should turn the AC on, and the ring should control the temperature. You may need a recharge or possibly have bad AC components that need replacing though.

I've run across a new situation this afternoon. I took it to the local Porche mech, and discovered what appeared to be a 2nd VIN # on the passenger side under the hood against the firewall.
It reads:
WP0ZZZ94EN454391
The actual VIN reads:
WP0AA0945EN454391
Carfax turned up a clean report on the "actual" VIN, but nothing on this "new" VIN.
Can anybody decipher these, and tell me what they mean?

The "ZZZ" and "AAO" are just something the factory did, they denote something or other. Since the rest of the numbers match up everything is fine. I'm pretty sure all Porsches have two 'different' VIN#'s.
