can you do a burn out in a 944 N/A
Okay I own a 87 944 N/A. I was told that if you do a burn out then it could mess something up really badly. I don't know what. I have seen 944 turbo's doing burnouts all the time. I am not saying I want to do it all the time but I have never done a burn out ever. I think it will be cool if I did it once.

Yes you can, no you shouldn't.
If you want to have a car for showing off how much smoke you can make or how fast in a straight line, go buy a Corvette or Mustang.
Clutch Job in a NA is ~10-12hrs + Expensive parts = Be nice to the Clutch and go find some twisties.

A couple wouldn't hurt I guess? Just record them for future reference so you never have to do it again if you want to do it that badly. You should've bought a mustang.
You have been warned.

I have a used na transmission here for $175 + shipping if you need it.
The ring and pinion on the 944 is a known weak point. That being said, I have still dumped the clutch on every autox start I ever did. Just know what you are getting into if it goes wrong. (I keep a spare for a reason)
edit: As stated above, clutch life is shortened each time but I thought that was a given...

though i have done a few without issue, most recently pulling onto the highway after stopping for a minute and really needing to catch up with traffic lol.

Dropping the clutch in a NA is not safe(remember 20 year old cars), easiest way to grenade the ring and pinion. The R&P on my daily driver decided to implode one day for no specific reason, I think the PO had severely abused it. I can't find the pictures, but the damn pinion cracked into 4 pieces.
Replacement transaxles are cheap to come by(travis's offer is cheapest I've seen in a while) with jack stands and proper tools you can replace it in about 2 hours(with a lift under an hour).
