So I'm getting new tires because the Comp T/A's I got on my wheels have basically no grip.

I'm looking for a tire under $100 that has decent performance for the street.

Size is going to be 205/40R16. Could be 205/45R16 too.

Currently I'm thinking about getting the Falken Azenis RT-615. They seem like a decent value and I've heard good things about them. Can anyone recommend a better tire or should I just get the 615s?

You might look at the Fuzion ZRi made by Bridgestone. They are a great tire for the money. I've run them on 3 different cars now and love them. Quiet, good dry grip, excellent wet traction, and they wear evenly. Just a thought.

Hankook Ventus R-S2's. Unbelievable Dry and wet traction. If you need tires that will work in the rain the 615's will not do, they hydroplane to easy. The Hankook's on the other hand is no problem in the rain. Oh and they just look sweet on the car. See avatar.

I have fuzion Zri as well but in 225/245. They are great; I would get them again.

Not in my experience. I run them on my 951 which is my daily driver and they're fine in the wet. I'm very happy with these tires.

i have 4 on my car and 4 on my infiniti, they grip like nothing else i have driven lol

and in the infiniti at least they leave a nice tread pattern burned into the pavement (4.5L DOHC 300HP/300TQ V8)

Ok so I think I'm gonna get the Falken Azenis RT-615 205/40R16. The only thing is that the roads here have a lot of potholes and stuff and I really don't want to bend a wheel. Do you think a 205/40R16 on a 16x8 wheel is too small of a sidewall and could lead to a bent rim?

We have been running a lot of Sumitomo ZRIII's and they have been showing to be a really good gripping tire on the track (for a street tire), and decent in wet weather around town. For the money, I think they are hard to beat. I think the set of 17" rubber i just put on my street rims was less than $400. I opted to not put on another set of Toyo T1S' due to cost, and this has been a pretty decent alternative. As well, they are not a directional tire, so you can swap them side to side if need be.

Hopefully you are aware of the huge difference in tire diameter between the OE 215-60/15 25.2" and the 205-40/16 22.4". Be ready for some major speedo error and possible pothole damage. IMO I would not use a 40 series in a 205 size for a street tire, they will look odd with all that wheel well space.

I am aware of the huge change in tire diameter. The car has front lowering springs on it already and I'm going to get the rear lowered when I take it for alignment so it probably won't look too goofy with a tiny sidewall.

I might opt for Hankook R-S2 205/45R16 since they are available in 45 series. I think that will suit the car well and should protect from wheel damage.

I like mine as well, but they are obviously for 18s. The problem with these tires is I have had a very hard time getting them in 2 different sizes.

well both my cars are wearing 225s on 15" wheels lol. the infiniti has 225/60s all around, the 944 has 60s on the back and 225/50s on the front. you can really tell the difference in tire size from the side lol kinda gives it the funny car look.

i'm using 225 on 7 in wide rims, car is lowered about 1.2 inches. Looks good and fills the wheel well. i don't think i'd go narrower than 225 on an 8 in rim. Look at Falken's site, they have recommended rim sizes for all their tires.
