Removing rear suspension - how to jack up car?
I always only use the rear trailing arm mount to jack up the rear of the car. Obviously I can't do that if I'm going to remove (or at least lower) the trailing arms. So where can I jack up the car from? I am trying to pull the torque tube.
TIA!

I always use a flat board on my floor jack and lift at the TT/TA area. Then I put jackstands at the support points right in front of the rear wheels and another set on the frame rails towards the front as a backup. The front wheels are always set with locking chocks.

Like Steve said, we used the supports just in front of the rear wheels. Not the best pic, jackstands are grey. Give you full access to the rear suspension, trans, etc.

why not just use the 2 jack stand points behind the rear wheels? Jack the car up at the mid point and put your stands under the rear.

Yeah... one of the jack points by the rear wheels is already collapsed. And I have a first-hand experience where I tried to jack a 964 by a factory jack point, and it collapsed while I had my head in the wheel well. Now I never use those points, only suspension! I guess right now I have no choice and I'll just have to be extra careful.

I am removing the torque tube, so the transaxle and rear suspension are both coming out, so I cannot put jackstands on either of those things.
Castor blocks are a component of the front suspension.... I'm trying to jack the rear end.

I don't jack on those rear points, but when the car's in the air and I do need to remove the rear suspension, I will put the stands there. Otherwise I put the jackstands under the ends of the torsion bars.
I always jack by the trans, though... unless I have to go in on the side...

Yeah that was my though process as well - I don't want to use the rear jack points but I had no choice so I just did. I have the wheels shoved in under the sides of the car just in case.

I use the rear diff/tranny case to jack also and put my stands under the torsion bars (my stands have a little saddle in them that fits nice). If that won't work for you then I'd move the stands to the points just in front of the rear wheels. I drive the front of the car up on ramps and that helps get it all up and level also. Evens out the pressure and avoids rolling.
Also would never use the rear jack points due to collapse.
