Default 944S2 update: Engine rebuild gurus, need a bit of help.

Looks like I will be rebuilding the engine on the S2. After speaking with Karl from Racer's Edge (944S2 guru), I think a proper rebuild is in order. With that said, I am trying to put together a parts list for everything that I need to get it rolling. Here is what I have thus far:

Parts:
1. All gaskets, seals, etc. (head, oil pan, cam housing, & front, rear and lower seals)
2. Oversize pistons (to accommodate the cylinder honing)
3. Forged con rods (either 951, 968)
4. Con Rod hardware
5. Rod bearings
6. Valve guides, etc.
7. Chain tensioner (need a new one)
8. Chain guides
9. New cam chain
10. Crank / main bearings & seals
11. Crank housing hardware

Services:
1. Block honing & crank balancing
2. Head refresh (port & polish if applicable)

Have I missed anything? Also anything in particular that I may need in terms of a machine service?

C.

Nobody?

Question #2 - Are 968 forged rods compatible with the S2?

150K miles on it. That and I want to make it 100% trouble free.

Timing belt/waterpump kit, balance shaft bearings, I would probably replace at least the DME temp sensor while you have it all apart, possibly the Speed and hall sensor depending on condition, obviously piston rings, any cam followers that are suspect, etc. Might also be a good time to either reinforce or replace the oil pickup tube as well.

Head studs ?
Thermal and friction coatings if legal in classes you plan on racing it ?
With 150k miles a new radiator might be a good idea also.

It's not really part of the rebuild, but I would also suggest a new radiator and a 951 oil cooler.

I'd friction coat the bearings as well if legal in class you plan on running.
And I presume youhave already added an Accusump ...

how much honing did you do? i wouldnt think that youd need new pistons unless you seriously upped the bore.

Maybe the honing came after the bore ???

Are you going to be making provisions to prevent oil starvation in corners?

S2 should have updated oil pan baffle. I don't "think" there is a need for additional mods. Others may say different.
