Angry Im stupid, stupid.. retarded..

i was putting in a smaller batter for electronics tests... now imagine the worst thing that you can do with a battery and a car..

while tightening the bolts on the leads, i managed to drop the motherf***ing wrench, it fell and welded the + and - leads... in most cases that means the car's chip is fried... please tell me porsche is different and that doesnt happen... please????

Only 1 way to find out... fire it up!

I don't think you did any damage. I don't know why Porsche used a battery where the + post sits next to/under the windshield frame, but I have sent some sparks flyin myself when hooking up jumper cables, and no ill results....

no, its fine if the + hits the frame, not much damage done... what i did, in every other car, just destroys it... one battery point to the other ugh, and i can't fire it up cause im waiting for my fuel pump...

the only good sign is that when i turn the accesories on the windshield wipers dont go crazy as the horn randomly honks..

I've arc welded a bit myself by accident on the starter because I didn't disconnect the positive terminal. My car is still fine.

tough to say for sure, but one thing I would recommend is double checking the fuses before you start it

Reversing the leads is what is hard on the ECU, etc.

The DME runs through the fuse box. It will be just fine.

Caused some sparks once when the + terminal arced with the hood. Car still started up with no problems. For peace of mind, consider a terminal cover for the + cable. Marine stores have larger ones that can accomodate the 3 cable stock terminal.

Hitting the negative terminal and hitting the body is the same thing....they're both grounds.

And +1 on the real damage is hooking the terminals up backwards.

If it makes you feel any better, the first thing I thought of when I read the title of your post & and your first line was:

"Oh damn, he shorted it, started a fire, and burned it to the ground."

Glad it wasn't that. . .
