Default Crossmember question

I noticed on the PET that the 89 has part number 944 341 103 07 while the pre 85 has 944 341 103 06. Is there a difference in design or are both parts interchangable. I am considering buying a used one to use as a core for the Lindsey 3 piece crossmember.

Not sure of all the variations (..., -06, -07, etc), but I do know that the early crossmembers do no have the mounting points for the motor mount heat shields, that are on the Turbo crossmembers.

You are right! I was wondering what was that little piece of metal mounting to the 2 holes behind the right motor mount. 944 341 103 07 it is. So does anyone have one they want to sell to me? Looking to pay no more than $60 plus shipping.

I have one off a 86 Turbo but would like $75 for it. I could ship direct to Lindsey for you and save you some shipping costs.

My spare crossmember is 944 341 103.01. Can someone look that up in PET to confirm it came off the 86 951 I parted. Hopefully I didn't give JerryW the newer one when he bought my 83.

Thanks

what the heck? my early car has a x-member with those mounting holes.

then again it also has an oil pan with a blockoff plate over the turbo oil return...

Can anyone post a pic of or describe the holes that he is talking about? I don't want to ship him the wrong part. For some reason I can't get PET running on this new hard drive.

From PET
944 341 103.01 was replaced with 944.341.103.06 which is from 83-85 944.

86 951 had part # 944.341.103.05 or 07.

Thanks Clint. Looks like I lost a sale and gave JerryW the newer one and kept the 83 version
My 83 was #610. So what's scrap aluminum going for these days?

Oh well. No worries. I might just do the core deposit and speed up the schedule for swapping the crossmember out when I do the oil pan and motor mounts while I am down there. I am not looking forward to messing with tie rods and arms that probably have never been moved since the car rolled out of Stuggart.
