Can I buy just the plastic ramp for the bottom of the cam chain tensioner or must I buy the whole assembly?
Do any of you have the part number?
Thanks in advance.
BTW
My wrench opened the cover today and said all is clean. He replaced the upper ramp with the $25 ramp from Paragon. If I get him a PN or the part he will replace the bottom ramp too. The car has 67k so I figure I'll wait till close to 100K to change the whole assembly which should be in about 5 years at the rate I'm driving.

When I changed my top ramp @ 115k the bottom ramp was in good condition. The top seems to get all of the wear. I'm planning on replacing the entire assembly at around 140k.

Thanks guys.
I Guess I'll just wait till about 100k and replace both assemblies at once.
Thats assuming I'm not over my midlife crisis (started 11 yrs ago at 30) or adlolescence or 911 (baby seat is more like it) <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

Porsche recommends the cam chain guide/tensioner to be replaced around 120k: I wouldn't wait till 140k.
I had mine replaced at 118k, and when the mechanic was taking it out, the upper guide broke in his hands! (BTW: my car was meticulously maintained by the previous owner!)
The cam chain tensioner/guide is not something to let go. Get it done ASAP once you're over 100k miles. (Note: in my area, a single VALVE costs $90.00: we have 16: you do the math!)

Three years ago when I owned an S I was set to start making both rails with a buddy. No one in the US sold them--just the complete unit. Then I found the uppers for sale in Holland, and shortly after they appeared in the US and Canada.
Fortunately, I hadn't yet invested in the moulds, but the whole thing smelled. A lot of people, including myself, had to put out hundreds of bucks for the complete tensioner unit. Where did the rails come from? Was it magic?

Don't remember where I saw/heard this: I believe it was my mechanic who stated this. I'll look into it.
