Default Looking for pics of "Garnett Red Metallic"

I may be going to look at a 951 next week. Its a couple hours away but Its this strange color that Im not shure of. I found a couple pics and some of them are outstanding, a very pretty mettalic dark red color. However Ive seen some that look kinda purpleish, brownish, and a few other ish's that I wasnt too fond of.
Anyway, if you have any decent pics post em up please. I dont want to drive 3 hours to see a car if Im gonna hate the color when I get there.

Thx guys
-Dan

Here's couple of pics where you can compare -EDIT!: VELVET RED METALIC: with the rest of the palette.

yes, Garnet Red = Sex. and Sex = Happy. One could deduct that Garnet Red = Happy.

My car is the factory sienna red metallic and is VERY similar to that color. Ive compared them in person and they're maybe a shade different. You wont be dissapointed.

I think Garnett looks good when it is a fresh paint job, but after some wear and tear, it isn't the greatest. A faded garnett paint job almost looks brown in the sun, which isn't all that attractive. That picture was after the front end was painted a few years ago so it looked great, but it is pretty rock chipped up now. It is eventually going to end up in some sort of orange paint scheme.

OK thx guys, I have been searching around and The Pic of PorscheDocs car is amazing!! Im just not shure im too excited about how it looks in certin light, or perhaps just when its aged a bit. I think I may have to keep looking around.

Although I really like the metalic paint, and that green on Dukes 951 is amazing!! perhaps a nice charcoal metalic like xsboost's car. hmmmm...just too many choices..

My 944 is Garnet Red Metallic, so I thought I'd stick in my $0.02 worth...

When I was looking at pictures of the car on the web, I was very unsure about the color. It looked much better when I went to look at it in person though, and I've grown to like it a lot. Personally, I like 944s in dark colors because I think it helps to smooth the lines of the car. (Not that there aren't some stunning light colored 944s/951s around, of course!)

I don't think photos capture this color very well, and it does look quite different in different lighting. I like this though because it makes the color interesting to look at (just like the 944 in general).

Garnet is one of those colors that you either love or hate. Whats funny is the primary reason I sold my old 951 which is now PorscheDoc's car in the pictures posted was because I hated the color and I was sick of working on it so much when I wasn't happy about the color. But the car looks fantastic now that Karl has taken care of it and I am glad it ended up in good hands.

lol, i should have shot it in the head and put it out of it's misery, but alas, here we are, almost a full blown track car at this point. At least some of the body panels are still the same, but that is about it. Currently installing 928S4 brakes, Charlie arms, 968 brake ducts, 87 hubs/spindles, camber plates, rear solid bushings, torsion bar delete, rear koni coilovers, weltmeister front/rear sway bars. Just installed 968 mirrors as well. Car is a mess right now, lol.

Here is how Garnett red looks when it isn't clean, is in pieces, and has taken 2 years of tailgating and hard track duty since the last paint If you look hard, you can see the picture of the white Atika looking out the garage, guarding the car

And the obligatory in pieces picture, lol.

My 1989 S2 had one special order option for paint (practically the only option the cheap bastard ordered), and it is spec'd as "Velvet Red Metallic" (M3U is the code I think). Looks identical to the turbo pic Dan P posted (with the coolant leak). The avitar shows it. It appears to be more "red" than the Garnet. And when it gaets faded, the wrong light makes it look purple. Time to add body work to the list

Just another thought for the "other" reds in the Porsche pallet.
