Default Thoughts on GT Racing headlight replacements.

I'm not crazy-serious about doing this mod, but in addition to saving the weight of the headlight hardware, it might (if good quality) look pretty cool too. Any guesses on the quality (both fit/finish and their ability to actually light up the road!).

I like the pop-up lights with the iceshark/hella upgrades. My $.02.

these are just "different look"

I've seen these on one of 944's local here, not up close, just a couple of times around town, and they definetly stand out

don't know about lightning vs. stock output or anything though

I was wondering if something like a RX-7 or 240SX kits can fit into 944's? I think some of those kits actually have projectors in them too

discuss ...

Fit and quality = not very good

Lighting = marginal, more cut-off at the bottom compared to the pop-up stock lights.

Unless they have changed things, the kit is made to fit the N/A headlight opening, which means 951/S2 guys have a gap and fitting issues.

deutschnine just came out with a similar product for the turbos/S2 but its waay expensive. like 7 or 800 bux.

i was interested in this a while back but the big rectangle shaped light looked funky to me. talk to 944-LT1, he put some nifty looking lights on his car (double rounds on each side)

here's a similar example from a long time ago. i like the look, many think it is ricetacular. you decide.

Obviously, it's a matter of taste, but I think the rectangular lights look "period correct" for the 1980s.

the bucket part of the kit usually fits very poorly. There is no hardware included to mount or attach anything to the car so you are pretty much on your own for fitting it. The clear covers usually fade in the sun and fog up w/ moisture. ive fit one set of these to a car and i wouldnt do it again.

I don't mind the look, but if you think the fit is that poor Tifo/Dan, I might keep looking.

looks like in that picture that they finally came up w/ some mounting hardware. If that is right then you would have alot less work. Hardest thing is figuring out how to weather proof or seal up the lense to the box and usually the box doesnt follow the contour of the lense very well. Here is the set i installed.

The new Deutsch Nine kit looks very good, high quality workmanship. And there is a group buy currently going on for them.
