almost every time i watch a topgear (just about all i do when not working lol) i get a laugh out of clarkson.
i think he loves the old porsche models because they were simple and fun. its like that episode comparing old supercars to new ones, he preferred the F40 because it was "road, seat, ***, the end" and no computers and unnecessary stuff that adds weight. today's 911 is still a light car (by modern standards at least) but id probably be pretty close by saying its about 1000 lbs more than original. certainly it has alot more power but the weight takes away from the driving experience

I think he's amazing because he's an *******. I admire that. I think we all need an ******* in our lives to say **** we aren't used to to keep things from getting boring. He's one hell of a guy.

I love the show and don't mind one bit that Clarkson bashes Porsches. Besides, Porsche does have some of it coming. I mean, really, who in hell thinks it's a good idea to make a clutch out of rubber???

I like Clarkson's sense of humor -- but you gotta be able to take some of remarks on the chin and laugh.
To be honest, I feel pretty much the same way that he does about modern Porsche's. I wouldn't buy 'em.

I think he's brilliant and very self-deprecating. They love UK cars (although there are precious few left) and Clarkson has a soft side for SOME American cars. He owns a Ford GT.
The show is great in part due to the people, but mostly for the production quality, and an immense budget.

U need a pompus azz on a show like that, like having Simon Cowell doing the show.
That is why I have a 944...er several of them becuase of the design.

I think he's pretty funny, although he does rely a lot on exaggeration and deliberately offending people. Top Gear is great, and I'll be interested to see what the US version will be like (if it's played here, that is).
Thanks J1NX3D, I'm just down the road in Hamilton

I love the old Porsches, but i'd never consider buying a new one.
and back to Clarkson, I think he's hilarious. It does annoy me when he starts talking about things he doesn't understand in terms that are incorrect (how many times have you heard him say gallons of torque?), but he's still a great host for the show.

It's a persona he puts on and it's what makes the show work. He's full of **** and we all no it, but we willingly suspend disbelief and laugh right along with him.

oh i know its just a comical reference, and most of the time i take it in comical stride, but occasionally he butchers technical things. I think just because I know how it works and the right terms it occasionally aggravates me.

I know he is Top Gear, and I like that show. I'm not saying he should go die; I'm just saying he annoys me, supremely. Like Jerry in Tom and Jerry.
I am one, as are my whole family, so I'm pretty fed up by the time I find a break to watch TV
.
It's like racist jokes. You can't laugh at some of them and frown on the ones about yourself. I don't mind his views of Porsche; everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just can't stand his personality.
Why wouldn't you buy a new Porsche?
