Jeremy Clarkson on the 944
In Jeremy Clarkson's (host of Top Gear) most recent article, he said the following about the 944...
...And then they fitted flared wheel arches and a new four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine to create the 944. I wanted one of those so much I ached. In fact, if I were to draw up a list of the 10 best cars I've ever driven, the 944 turbo would certainly be included. You can buy them these days for five grand.
See page 2 of http://www.topgear.com/content/featu...ries/01/1.html for more details.

Surprisingly kind to Porsche in that article, he is usually bashing them on the show, but I think he hams it up to poke at May and Hammond.
"So, when you buy a modern Porsche, you are demonstrating to the world that you are very interested in driving. And being 'very interested in driving' means that, for you, it is a hobby."
...yeah that's about right
...love the show regardless, Clarkson's wit is genius.

Burning Brakes
From the article:
...and I wish this self-absorbed, over-subjective, senseless waste of oxygen would do exactly that.
If I were a caravannist, with a family to feed and a modest income, what I'd actually do is kill myself.

I hate Clarkson, his opinions, his fat head, his voice, all of it. He doesn't like Porsches... that right there shows us all what his opinions are worth.

I think Clarkson fits Top Gear nicely. If he wasn't there it wouldn't be nearly the same. I like how he puts down America yet fits the bill so nicely.. Overweight, bigheaded, loud.. Seems to fit what the rest of the world thinks about the U.S. nicely.

In one of his early columns (included in the "Clarkson on Cars" book), he also says:
"The Porsche 944 Turbo was lasting well on my list because here is a beautifully engineered, well-made car that you can now buy for less than 10,000 pounds. It is exceptionally good fun to drive, remarkable to look at and I have no doubt that it will be a Michelangelo's David when it comes to standing the test of time."
Of course, true to form, he then goes on to put down Porsche owners, but we don't need to repeat that here!
(Finally got around to doing my first post!)

Clarkson, makes top gear, no other way around it. He is simply the back bone of the show. Yes, he is biased towards British and Italian cars, who cares though.

He would probaly appreciate hearing you say "I hate Clarkson".
Yeah, you're missing the joke...
Yeah, you're missing the joke...
"Maybe you think I'm heading toward the Cayenne. Nope. Things I'd rather have include ebola, six elbows and an unquenchable desire to goose the Pope. "

Clarkson is hilarious. He knows many Porsche owners watch the show and he rants on about the cars for a reason. The show wouldn't be the same without him and is one of the many reasons I have absolutely no interest in watching the American version when it airs. I expect it will be as dull and boring as the American version of Fifth Gear.
