The worst thing possible has finally happened!!
Ok - the worst ever has happened!!!
Was at the local Wal-mart last nite buying some Superglue so I could fix some loose hatch rubber and I saw it...........!!!!!!
It was a black 944 with this ungodly body kit on it. Nothing I've ever seen on the net or done by anyone here. It looked like crap. But here is the kicker. This guy had the numbers 911 in BLACK TAPE on the back!!!! BLACK TAPE I say!!
I HAD to wait till this work of art came out of the Wal-mart to ask him what in the blue hell he was thinking. He finally comes out after about 15 minutes (I was thinking of going home and getting my camera - but I didn't want to miss him). I see him putting his key in the door and walk over and say, "Hey nice car (cough, cough) - what kind is it?". He says, "911 Special Edition".
Turns out that his dad just bought it for him, his dad apparently owns a 911 (although I know of none around where I live) and got him this "Special Edition" as a gift. This guy looked to be around 20ish. I asked him to open the hood so I could see the engine. As he was doing so, he said that this "911" wasn't as fast as his dads. When I peer into the engine bay - what do I see? It's a Turbo.
So, I ask about the body kit. He say, "I'm suprised you knew it was a body kit" - ya right. It was so badly done that you could see where the weld marks were. I asked him if it came like that and he said, "No, I had a buddy gear it up - I'm trying to make the body look more like the basic 911 body - this is just the first stage".
First of all - it was in good shape overall. Nice interior (except for the glow-in-the-dark steering wheel cover), and from what I could see of the body - it was nice. The engine was spotless and the car ended up having only 86,000 Klms on it. My question is how a 911 owner would allow his son to do this to a Porsche, unless he REALLY hates 944's.
As I stood there, holding back my tears and fighting with all my might to stop myself from clubbing this punk in the chops - I could see that this really nice Turbo was going to go to waste.
The only redemtion from this horrible experience was seeing the look on his face as I passed him in my 944S. He knew then that I knew that he was an idiot. He looked like a married guy who just got caught cheating on his wife - bastard (lol).
If I happen upon this freak of nature again - I will take pics and post them - you all HAVE to see this with your own eyes. Then we all can find out where he lives and take that poor 951 away from him and give him what he needs. A "Special Edition" Type R, V-tec, Neon!!!

I knew someone would ask that, after reading my own post I caught that. The tape he used was actually Red. When I said "black tape" I was using "black tape" to mean Electrical Tape - must be an old Nova Scotia Minor Hockey habit, we always used "black tape" to keep our socks up over our shin pads. I know three types of tape - black tape, cloth tape and clear tape.
I will say - he did a pretty good job of cutting the tape to make nice straight numbers. At first I thought it was a decal. But seeing as it was a 944 that was the first thing that caught my eye (except the hideous body "kit").

Well, at lease he didn't confuse manufacturers and put a Type-R sticker on it. Idiots. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> I wonder who is worse, the kid or his dad.

I don't think I would have been as "pleasant."
Lets just put it that way. Sounds like a real gem! Get some pics, that way I can find him and had him a Porsche history book.

Porsche needs to come out with an easy disable manual for these situations, something like, creep under the car and snip the fuel pump wires so the car doesnt start, then buy the car and let it end its days rotting away in your garage, its ugly mods unable to inflict pain on other p-car owners. then you can part it out and end this guys fantasy of owning a "911 special edition" cause he is obviously an idiot.

It's probably all those new body kit parts slowing it down.

I wonder what he thinks a 911 looks like anyway. Getting a 951 to look like a 911 isn't only stupid, it's impossible.
What a waste of space.
I might use some of that black tape to write turbo on my 944, then I'll body kit the car up to look like a 356.
Sam.
