Found this pic in a jalopnik article talking about the first two celebs to drive the reasonably priced POS on the US version of Top Gear.
Only bodes well for the show's content that they keep a 944 close at hand... though it looks pretty damn beat.

My guess is 3 fancy new cars vs 3 sub $1500 sports cars. Notice the 240Z (probalby 280 Zx) back there too. Too bad the 944 hand a bent front fender. Clearly an early 944 probably 83 or 84.

I really hope this show doesn't totally suck. I am a big fan of the UK show but it seems like everytime the US copies a UK show something is lost in translation and it is never as funny or clever. I just watched the US version of Kitchen Nightmares last night and it was lousy compared the UK show, same thing with the office. Plus the BBC doesn't have to depend on revenue from commercials so they are free to tell it like it is and say what they want about the cars. How do you think Ford, Toyota, GM, etc will respond if the show says their car is junk or not as good as another manufactures cars?

my guess is the black car is a 83 firebird, the burgandy car a 83 280ZX and the gray car a 83 944. All 25 year old cars.
the firebird was "all new" in 82, but the WS6 cars had problems being rolled out. My buddie's 82 WS6 Firebird didnt get four wheel disks i think because of supplier problems.
The 280ZX was all old in 83 with the 300 coming out in 84, and the 944 was part new in 83 as we all know.
