I'd say it depends on how good your professor is. First time around I didn't understand a thing. Now I do understand and kinda like it a bit.

That is kind of like how chemistry was for me. My teacher this semester was awesome and really gave the feeling that he gave a crap. A good professor makes the world of difference in any course. I try to "check out" (non-sexual meaning) all my professors before I take their class just to make sure I am not making a bad choice. For science classes at SLU there is not much of a choice because there is mainly one professor for each major course.

Physics is the worst class Ive ever taken, I really really hate it.

Organic Chem..now I liked that class, cell bio was ok, didnt learn much. My fav was analytical chem. One class next semester, and Im out!

I heard analytical was quite tough. The professor of my general chemistry class also teaches analytical and said that if a measurement is off by just a little, then the student gets a C for the assignment.

Yeah Chemistry kind of bites... being a Bio major though I'm gonna be taking lots of it though. Passed a test to get out of first year chem and had to drop the pre-req to organic chem because i've been partying too much this semester, oh well.

Actually, I think nitrous oxide is correct. IIRC, the "-ide" ending indicates one molecule... I think. Doens't "-ous" indicate 2 and "-ate" indicate 3... or something like that.

Just call it N20.

Since they are both nonmetals they use the prefix system for naming them (mono, di, tri...). I am not sure how the -ous ending comes about though. In my textbook it states that N20 is Dinitrogen monoxide in one spot and in another it says it is nitrous oxide. Does anyone have a good solution?

I'm going to have to agree with Matt on this one. I faintly remember something about the whole -ate -ous thing. I think i'll brush up on the chemo tonight.

I have to stop by my chem teacher's office today to pick up my final, so I might have to ask him (even though I will probably look like a big fu..... dork). I now have a Bio final to go to. Please. Wish me luck.

Yeah, after reading this friggin post, I'm going to take a few AsI3's and chase them with a little CH3 CH2 OH and some dihydrogenideous monooxide-arinio.

Has anyone read up on their chemistry?

Look here: <a href="http://homedistiller.org/" target="_blank">http://homedistiller.org/</a>

Now: Who dares saying out loud that chemistry and phisics are no fun...

EDIT:
- The methanol from the first still output has very high octane no.
- It only needs about 2 m2 (22 Sq Ft) of garage space
