They're fun but I hate waiting all day for just 4 or 5 runs... By the time I really get going it's already over.

If you think that is fun, you should try the high speed tracks. Now that is what fun is really all about.

If you think that is fun go a track and run DE.

Then

If you think that is fun race the car.

Now we are getting somewhere.

This photo was taken with the cars at 85 mph flat out.

I could never AX... DE is way better. More track time, more speed, more learning. And then I went racing. Whole new level. And every race I learn more.

Two weekends in a row next month

What sort of requriments do your average DE enforce? Average cost of a 1 or 2 day event not counting lodging?? Would it be a waste of time to take a mostly stock 8v n/a?

No by all means take a stock 944.

As for requirments.
- Safety gear - Helmet altough you may be able to borrow one.
- Car prep - good working condition with no fluid leaks and stock seat belts.
- Cost $100 to $199 per day. Often times discounts for 2 days instead of just one.
- Lodging depends on which track and where it is.
- No particular driving skill required. Novices are welcome and will go through a class rooom session and will have an instructor in the car.
- Club membership. Could be PCA, NASA or other. $40 to $60 and good for one year.

I think I'm getting a deal on a set of corbeau forza's soon.. If I get just one will I not be allowed? I think I read in some thread that you have to have matching driver and passenger seats/restraints.

Correct, you are required to have matching restraint systems for both driver and passangers. Also you can NO longer run stock seats with harness you must have seats with the pass throughs for the harness in order to run harness' at a D.E

one of the seasond vets told me at an autox after i spun that spinning at an autox is a cheap way of learning what to and not to do so you dont spin on a track because spinning on a track is expensive.

Last year i was talking to pete tremper and he said the sub holes had to be factory installed. not sure if he changed since then.

i think you can have one race seat with a stock three point and a stock seat with a stock three point at a DE. not sure.

No reason to discriminate. I've never raced wheel to wheel, but I both autocross and open track, and would never give up either.

Open track is great to get to know your car, learn a track, and learn to drive smooth. Like playing the main guitar riff of a song, easy to get somewhat right, forever to perfect.

Autocross is frantic, fly by the seat of your pants, wring it out driving. The Van Halen improvised guitar solo of the racing world. Never sure you have it quite right, but very obvious when you get it wrong.

Each has its pros and cons, but the important thing is that you get to become one with the silly lumps of steel we love so much at a level you never could on public roads.

are any of you who are saying you havn't done a DE signed up for the one at 944fest? i am, it'll be my first time, and i cant wait.
i was surprised at how minimal the requirements are. at the fest were using the nasa tech form for DEs.
you can find a link to it at 944fest.com
