Who was this event put on by? The SCCA has strict rules about how close a course can be to any solid object. Most clubs have similar rules as well. In my 12 years of autocrossing in the Detroit area, I've never seen anyone hit anything.

Again, there are always risks involved, but you have nobody to blame but yourself if you drive like an idiot. And for the poor chap you mentioned above, when things go wrong, they go wrong a lot quicker in a 911T than a 944.

If you're not comfortable with your car / driving, there are many events held that put an instructor in the car next to you to learn properly.

I don't understand why there is so many negative comments. These are Porsches, they were built to be enjoyed.
