Default Need help with a decision for my 944

I have a 83 944 that I tore down to repaint a few years ago. A buddy of mine was doing the paint work but never finished due to a divorerce. The car is still apart but 75% painted. I am looking to sell because I just have lost interest and started on new hobbies.

My question is, what do you think a 83 944 would be worth in pieces? It has alot of paint work done. New aftermarket carpet, new windshield (not installed), new dash cover (not installed), new tires (not installed), 16" Phone Dials. It has approx 120,000 miles if I remember correctly.....its been awhile since I have looked. I also have a spare engine that would go with it. Just looking for some honest input.

Thanks

Sell it as a whole, let it live on as someone elses project.

That is my thought too. Any idea how to price it though? I don't have any records for it and it should probably have belts, seals & rollers.

The idler pulleys (a.k.a. rollers) in the timing and balance belt systems. if these get old and the bearing dies, so does your timing belt, valve train, etc. etc. etc. always good to replace them with every other timing belt change.

Does $1000 sound like a reasonable starting price or is worth more/less?

+1 on selling it as a whole. It sounds like it comes with a lot of new parts to put it back together and have a nice car.

I think you could get very close to your $1000 goal, if the car is in running condition. I understand a lot (maybe all) of the body panels are removed for paint, but a running / rolling chassis will make more of a difference, than buying one all put together, but doesn't run.

If it's complete and both engines are good, I'd give you $1K for it right now. . . if I didn't live 1800 miles away. I think $1K is a very reasonable starting price - I would probably start at 12 or 15. My $0.02.

And +1 on keeping it whole. I get sad some days when I come on RL and Pelican's classifieds and see the large numbers of these cars being parted out. Too bad you can't finish it yourself - sounds like you're so close. There was a thread on here yesterday about sources for paint - maybe you could finish it yourself with some high-quality paint bombs and get it back on the road (or track) where it belongs!
