My car is still in the shop getting all the belts/wp/rollers/acdelete done and should be done early next week. Then I still have to get it broken in and re-insured before I can make it...also get a call today, the bumper I had ordered over a month ago might actually ship today, too bad it took too long and I dont have time to have the splitter/mirrors/bumper resprayed. I had this all planned well in advance, but things of course fell through. Oh Well, Im still trying to make it, if not I might be there in a rusty pathfinder! If that happens, i want rides!

I still have to re-pressure wash the engine bay. There is still oil on it from the "Exxon Valdez Experiment" I pressure washed it 2 weeks ago and I have already been thru a large box of old t-shirts and rags. I dont think it will ever be as clean as it was. Dirt sticks to oil like a *****.

at least its running again

Chris - I know your pain! Although you dumped a bunch more oil than me, I managed to fling 3 quarts all over the engine bay from the bad balance shaft seal. Try as I might, I still have not cleaned it all up. Now that I am driving it, there is dirt showing up.....

Anyone have good tips? (something that does not leave a residue, so no Gunk or Simple Green)

Perry,

I will make it, I am determined, if i have to it will be many late nights in the garage getting things squared away. If I can have it ready buy July 3rd then i can spend the 4th cleaning her up and getting it ready for the drive north....

But tonight I made progress, and found my coolant leak (BTW yours sounds exactly like a radiator leak, sorry about that, but I just did that 6 months ago, bring a replacement to 944 fest and we will swap it there)....

Anyway, I made progress tonight and I feel i'll be in good shape (knock on wood)...

I'm very excited for this meeting, can't wait to meet ya'll...

Count me in, I'll be bringing Eric (911 guy) with me on Saturday. Food can be surf or turf, both work fine for me. Wilmington Pike off 675 works for me to meet for the caravan, Pete. That's about 1 mile from my house so that is great. I can bring an extra radio for anyone who wants it. They are invaluable for keeping from getting separated or if something funky happens (ask Eric about roadkill on the Taj drive!)

Take Care,

Tifo

rather finalized plans, kinda cross posting here..

"Planning on the southerly trek.. Springfield, IL thru Indy to Columbus then Northeast to Mansfield. My plan is to arrive late afternoon on Sat to help setup and tent out overnight.
7 1/2 hours and 450 miles looks like I'll be leaving here around 6 am or so on Saturday."

I took off work on sat too. We'll probably leave about noon and get to Mansfield about 4ish. The GF wants to do a little shopping too, so we'll be there a little later in the afternoon on sat and hit the hotel overnite.

1 week to go folks. Make sure to give her a little inspection before departing. Jot down these numbers.. 419-589-3787 (the house) and 419-610-1202 (my cell). If you get lost or have a mechanical, call us. If you are within reasonable range, we'll have a truck trailer sitting around for possible rescue, and about 30 consultants waiting when you arrive.

See ya soon!

Humm.. perhaps Andy will be kind enough to send out a new Emergency contact list. That could help if someone has trouble.

1 week from right now... we should be departing Dayton!!!
