I don't see the hole, maybe I'm blind, but could someone put one of those little red circles on there for idiots like me?

Also, is this hole always there, or is it there because of something you were working on? Anyways, why not put some masking tape over the hole to keep stuff out.

Before you tear the thing down, do something silly.

Remove the starter (2 19mm bolts) and rotate the engine slowly to prevent binding. The bolt should (and prolly will if it's not really stuck) fall out on the floor.

HTH!

nah to late we already did it. 3 and a half hours later its already back togeather. one thing. there is a big ground cable and a little ground cable that go on the bolt on the top of the bell housing. now there is a similar cable that we thought went on the same bolt but i tried to put it on there and now i cant get the heate core valve on it. the cord is really long and it looks like it should goto the bottom of the engine somewere. does anyone know. it looks like its comming from the same place at the one that is on the top of the bell housing.

Which side of the engine does this wire go to?

Anyway, that ground stud usually only has 2 grounds - the main from battery and another brown one about 10 gauge. I am in there right now on the battery project and could probably tell you what is up if you describe better.

Funny, today I was using a cordless drill and wire brush to clean off that ground stud, caught the chuck key and off it went towards the "Black Hole". My heart skipped a few beats but then I found it jammed between the block and oil fill tube. I was thinking about leaving it there but it would probably jump up and get swallowed by the bellhousing hole.

I feel your pain man! I dropped a bolt into my cam tower while it was mounted, out of rech of my magnent... I just hand cranked the car until it presented itself and was able to be grabbed. Was worried I would have to take off the tower!

But wow, the bell housing window? What are the odds of dropping something in there???
