how do you remove and replace a faulty 1983 wiper switch? The slow-fast positions work fine, but the intermittent won't shut off when the lever is jiggled or moved to the off position, and the intermittent operation resumes when the vehicle is restarted after sitting overnight. I removed the fuse. Can the replacement be done without removing the steering wheel?

you must remove the steering wheel. after that's done, there are 2 bolts holding the cover for the steering column in place. remove those. then there are 3 screws holding the switch assembly to the column. remove those and all the wiring, and it'll then slide off. can be done with a 24mm socket (and extensions) and normal hand tools.
