Default Car paint opinions needed: looking for a good burgundy/maroon paint

So it seems that I will have to paint the whole car anyway - the bubble on my quarter panel was actually some 3mm of bondo and crappy prep underneath.

But I digress, I'm looking for a nice shade of burgundy/maroon that won't clash with the stock burgundy parts (engine compartments, interior panels etc) but slightly more red and metallic.

Any ideas?

this struck my fancy

That is garnet red metallic. LM3Y is the paint code.

so paint it the stock color...why make it worthless by painting it a different color and not spraying the jambs and under the hood.

I'm planning on painting the jambs, but not under the hood. That's why I'm asking for a burgundy color (so that it doesn't look like crap), but with more metallic look.

My car has been reshot at least once (crappy job, it's peeling already), so it could be UV damage. Does Garnet Red light up orange light that in direct sunlight? If so, then I'm repainting it the same color

Also where do you buy your paints? I'm gonna need some urethane base and clear

Hey, I need to know too. I have the same color on my 951 and it needs repaint. Source and brand of paint would be helpful.
Thanks,
Don

check auto parts stores in the area for a local paint shop- sometimes body shops will sell you the materials needed as well or could at least point you in the right direction. I would never order paint from someone online.

Yea you can get paint at any automotive paint store. I just painted a set of aero mirrors, so i just had them mix me up a spray bomb can of paint. When I repainted my font end a few years ago, I used dupont paint, but there are many options out there such as PPG as well.

My car is due for any entire paint job which isn't going to happen until this winter at the earliest, but in sunlight everyone thinks the car is brown. I am probably going to do a complete color change when the time comes.
