I use a tapped drain plug sender in my 944 spec race car. I got it here when there was a lister making them. Seems to work pretty well as it tells me sump temps. On the race track I can see temps change during the course of a race. If I follow close behind a car and thereby get less air to the 951 oil cooler I can see oil temps shift up. Once in clean air oil temps drops a little.

I use a sandwich plate for my oil cooler with no issues, there's definitely room
