Post How many miles do your cars have??

Im looking into this '86 Turbo Black on black with 205K for $5500. Its in very good condition, bodywise and mechanically. The guy is getting all the belts, waterpump and clutch changed before he sells it. What do you guys think of the price and of the mileage? Will the engine die out on me soon or will it last? The car is very well taken care of. How many miles do you guys have on your cars?

I currently have an '87 NA with 126K and the engine is very solid. It idles perfectly.

my car has 151k and runs great.

at one time there was this guy who said his 86 951 had 540k with no engine or trans rebuilds.

I don't remember if it was one this web board or another, but in any case that is crazy

134,xxx miles, recent rod bearings and front seals. Seen one clutch + master/slave cylinder set. Otherwise, pretty much all original. Durable cars, these 944's.

Keep the shiny side up,

There was an article a few years ago in "911 and Porsche World" about a 951 that had somewhere in the high 300,000 range, if memory serves. No engine work as I recall. Back issues should be available.

Just sold my 84 today with 160k miles on it. Still had factory spec compression, has had a valve job at around 100k miles.

My turbo also has near perfect compression, no rebuilds at 179k miles.

Read the following in an old issue of 911 & Porsche World:

"Gerhard Plattner, Porsche's PR man in Austria, drove a single 944 500,000 kilometres (310,000 miles) during 1987, after which the bodywork was ceremonially signed by Professor Ferry Porsche himself. The idea was to drive as far as the moon and back within 12 months. Appropriately, the car bore the German registration LU-NA 944."

I saw a 944 with 350k on it at my mechanics. Never bene opened up at all. My 87 just rolled 80k yesterday! Spent $2400 on belts rollers wheels and other miscellaneous items in the last three weeks! I still love this thing! Looking forward to another 80k, unless a turbo catches my eye this summer <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
