Post WTB: 944 Turbo in CA

I'm looking to buy a 944 Turbo in CA... preferrably around Sacramento or the Bay Area... but I'd be willing to travel to buy the right one.

I'd like it to be fairly stock, since I'm not looking to heavily modify it right now. Also want it in relatively good shape. Its not going to be my daily driver, but I'd like it to run well. Mileage isn't a big issue.

I'm mainly looking for one that is not red. I don't want it to draw too much attention... so like black, metallic grey, or white would be excellent.

If anyone has one for sale or knows someone who does, please let me know. Email is ken@qgyen.net. Thanks.

Hey Ken

There is a car in Escalon, near Sacramento, that sounds like a good deal. It's what I believe to be a Graphite Metalic (Dark grey) which is a sweet color for a 951. It does have some drawbacks not the least of which is the owner has neglected some maintainance items which could be indicative of how he has maintained the car as a whole, but the price is really reasonable.

Here is the lik to the ads page(go to the cars section and look about two ads down):

<a href="http://www.rennlist.org/ads/index.htm" target="_blank">Rennlist classifieds</a>

Not endorsing or saying it's a good car, just that I saw the ad and noticed it is nearby you.

My '86 951 is for sale. It has 127k and is Guards Red. The price is firm at $18,000.

As far as the red goes, I wouldn't worry about too much attention. I haven't gotten any tickets in the car and I drive too fast. If it makes you feel better, I'll throw in my Valentine 1.

If you will consider red...a buddy of mine has an early 86 951 down in the L.A. area. It has about 65K miles and is guards red but also has the following parts:

Turbo Cup struts with 300# springs
KMR strut bearings
Weltmeister sway bars
Stainless steel brake lines
87 and later front brake calipers
Corner balanced
16" BBS three piece wheels
Sparco seats
Momo Suede Steering wheel
B&B cat back exhaust
New exhaust manifold
New Clutch at 50K

The hasn't been chiped and is bone stock engine wise. He was originally going to track the car but since has gotten an M3 and is planning on tracking that instead. He is looking to get $19K for it.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm not looking to spend *too* much, since I am a starving college student.

That one in the classifieds looks pretty good, though it needs a little work. Just need to get financing squared away (little credit history = hard to get loan... only need like $6k).

Yeah, I didn't really expect to sell my car. Still, just about everything I have is for sale for the right price.

Buy my red one and with what you'll save you can buy a great Radar detector. I have two red cars (Miata and 951) and no tickits in 7 years. And I don't drive slow...

Mine's ad # 36899.
You can ask Matt Shepard about it, he saw it last night. I's priced to sell quickly because I have too much else going on right now. I can't believe nobody has snatched it up - it's a great car for the money. I guess I'll put it in the autotrader tonight, but if I have to deal with non-Porshe guys I'll probably have to ask more. Just didn't want the hassles.

I emailed you last night about it since Matt had emailed me.

My main issue is finding financing for a car older than '88 (my credit union doesn't do car loans on cars that old).
