Post wiring helpage

I need some help with some wiring stuff.

What I need to do is have a push button switch wired to a strobe light that shuts off after like 5 or 10 seconds. Is it possible? What do I need and where can I get it?

BTW, this is going to be for my bike so I can bring attention to myself at intersections so idiots in cages don't pull out in front of me as much.

I don't know much about wiring, but it seems like it would be pretty simple. I think you would just need a timer of some sort (to make it strobe) and a capacitor so when it runs out of juice it shuts off and recharges.

why do you want a timer, why not just have a push button. you're tring to blind them right? no need to do it for 5 mintues straight. if you really want to, hold the button for 5 minutes.

Just enough time to get through the intersection. I just want to be able to push the button and forget about it so I can consintrate on riding and not worry about turning it off. And no, I am not trying to blind them, just want to bring attention to myself.

ic 555 timer, a momentary spst switch, and some super bright LED's. 1.5V source. With a little engineering you could get it as small as your thumb. should be very easy.
Or.. buy a couple of flashing bike lights (Bell at wal-mart, 10 bucks) and leave em on. has always worked for my night rides -I get noticed.

The one that I need uses a 555 timer. The problem is, I don't want to spend 10 bucks for a book that I will use one time. Any chance you can make up a diagram for me if you have the capabilities?
