I have a pair of hatches here that need to go and the '83 is starting to delaminate. If I had shop space I'd give a fiberglass top a shot. Lane changes and backing would be a real mother.

Raising the spoiler to the top may even reduce drag...

Wouldn't that look bitchn' on the 951!

Nice - 944 hearse conversion. So much classier than a Caddy.

An alternative frame and glass is doable. The hatch frame is aluminum. If you look closely on the sides of the mid section, it started as 2 pieces welded into one. You could TIG weld more material onto the frame.

The idea had crossed my mind for a while. I can tell you only the Corrado and CRX rear glass can fit within the flat section before the glass curves (approx 44" x 40"). The 350Z glass looks promising, but I have not found a 350Z to measure yet.

You shouldn't be looking over your shoulder for lane changes
Because in that half second that your eyes leave the front, the car in front of you could have hit their brakes.

Set your side mirrors as described here - I've been doing this for close to 30 years (kinda discovered it independently, then found out that other people do this, too, esp people who race)

It freaked out one of my ex-gfs, she always thought it was freaky that I could tell her what cars where to my side and behind me when I didn't move my head around.

I always thought it was the obvious way to set your mirrors. I guess to good drivers it is. I never understood how someone wouldn't think this way, and end up oblivious to who's coming up behind them. Then again, there's a lot of people on the road who have no business being there.

Or you could leave adequate following distance.

Default How About This One?

I have this one from a '44 project I had. Anyone know the heritage or have an interest in it? It's fairly light.

Thta is not a wing, you are looking at it backwards. That is the rear window side.

Huh. That's how I've always set mine, I thought that was normal. I guess it's not. That helps explain why so many drivers out there suck. This works great for me.

I think the modded hatches have a good idea behind them and definitely have some strong pro's to consider. Personally I'd love to have an aftermarket hatch, but none of the ones out there look good to me. Maybe I'll make one someday, but more likely I'll just reseal my glass one and keep truckin'.
