Default Daytime Running Lights

Anyone hook up daytime running lights to a 944? OR know where I can run the wire?

I have fog lights hooked up to the exisiting wiring but have two lights that I would like to come on whenver the car is started and off when you shut the car off. Anyone know where I can tap into on a 86 944?

Appreciated!

im sure someone could point you to a diagram or something.
you may just be able to strip the ingition wires in the middle somewhere, and just splice the lights into it.
keeping in mind i dont know the definition of "splice" but this is what we did on my step brothers altima when he wanted leds in side his car. except we used the cig lighter wires for a constant hot.

why not just flip the lightswitch to first position? the corners and markers all light up and foglights will work like that. 2 seconds to use existing wiring seems better than to tear open your dash to find a good power point.

Red, what year is your car? Euro or US spec?

I use my factory fogs as daytime running lamps. They come on and off with the ignition. Very easy mod if you have a late car.

If you wire it into the power wire going to the alternator, this would be simple. If you have a Rennbay or Iceshark kit it would be VERY easy to add some running lights.

its a late american 944 (1986)
The reason I do not use the fog switch because I am already using them for the outside lights and the inside lights I am trying to figure out where to run them. I was thinking right to the fuse box and hook up underneath somewhere but another guy said he did that and messed everything up. Here is the set up I have from JAGER Engeering:

I'm interested in doing this also on a '84 944.
On my '86 911, it was as simple as moving one wire at the fuse box (wire which controlled the relay connecting the fogs to the main headlight) to another fuse which is "on" whenever the ignition is 'on'.
Here's the info for a 911:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=382588

Now we just need to figure out which wire at the fuse box to move to the proper fuse so fogs will be 'on' with ignition. Any electrical gurus or anyone who can read a schematic (not me) here to help?

thanks

Do you know how to do it on an early '84 944?
Is it similar to the fuse box method mentioned in the thread above?

Not sure about an early one.

On a late one:
1. Remove the fuse box and relay cover
2. Unplug the bridge adapter (G6 position - the real short relay looking thing)
3. Flip the bridge adapter over and locate pin #9
4. Do one of the following, A or B:
A. Break off pin #9 and cover the spot with electrical tape
B. Remove the cover of the adapter ensuring none of the pieces fall out because they just sit there. Unsolder pin #9 from the other pins making sure you keep the diode soldered in its original state. Replace the cover to the adapter.
5. Attach a length of wire to a solderless spade terminal (remove the plastic end piece off the terminal)
6. Bend the spade terminal at a 90 degree angle and plug into the relay board where pin #9 would have been. Now plug the bridge adapter into its proper position on top of the spade and wire making sure nothing is shorting out.
7. Strip enough of the free end of the wire to insert into an existing fuse in the board by removing the fuse, doubling the wire around one of the spades, and replacing the fuse. You can also use a fuse tap like I did.

When you finish, it should look like mine in the picture. Now you can turn your fog switch on and leave it on, and the fogs will come on and turn off with your ignition.

Why not just bridge the fog light relay? Pull the thing and just bridge the 30 (hot with ignition on) with the output (11a or 11b - Can't remember which one - can't check the relay, car is 2000 miles away). Should be as simple as making a wire jumper and plugging it in.

I also heard that there is a Canadian version of the fog light relay that does exactly what you want it to do (since DRLs are mandatory in Canada for these cars). Should be a factory part.

I'll have to find the part before the end of the summer myself. . .

This method sound much easier, and similar to what was done on my 911.
Could you explain in a little more detail (for us electrically impaired--me) how to 'bridge', and exactly what contacts to connect (and how).
Much appreciated.
