Question dash crack repair

I just purchased a dash on ebay with 2 vent holes just starting to crack. Can u recommend what I should do to stop the cracking before I install it.
I prefer to keep it original but would consider having metal or plastic vent covers installed if u think that would prolong the life of it. TIA

some people have had success with sanding the dash, filling the cracks and painting it lol.

i stripped the vinyl off mine, cut out the rotted cracks and filled them with new foam and am now waiting to recover it.

search JayVee posts.

He redid his dash with a kit he bought online. It looks great. (I just can't remember the name of the kit)

If you just want to stop the cracks, I read here that drilling a small hole at the end of the cracks might do it.

i did my seats with this stuff, it works great for a while, but the fill stuff which is like a soft and flexible rubber wears after a while, i tried it on my dash, but i never saw how it would work, but maybe i should have kept going... looks good.

colorplus.com be sure to check out the post above as it talks about the proper technique to put on the black paint over the dash crack filler... this seems to be the #1 way to fix dash cracks, the #2 way is to use bondo and sem texture coating, #3 is to take out the dash and get it recovered in original oem format.
