OT: Full Metal Challenge
Well I was in tears for about 3 days when I found out Cathy Rogers was leaving Junkyard wars. Then I saw the previews for Full Metal Challenge. I thought it was going to be stupid, and the first one I saw kind of was. This weeks was awesome though. The last Sumo round was an American Tractor with a 440 against a British Ferret armored car.
Was absolutely brutal and in the end the American tractor had lost all 4 tires but still pushing. It was won only by points and the fact that the Americans had lost the wheels (Ferret has solid rubber tires.
Was a great show, I think they're working the kinks. out.

That's the one with Henry Rollins, right? I saw the first episode of that and did not find it very good. I need to watch a later one to see if it got any better. Even though I did not really like the first episode, I thought the show still had a lot of potential (mainly because Hank was in it).

Henry you mean. Yeah I'm a big fan of Henry too (Beavis look at the size of the neck on that dude!). But for all I care they could dump him in a swamp. Cathy Rogers is an absolute hottie.
But yes the show has gotten better. I think part of it is the contestants are figuring out what they need to build for a vehicl. Big, HEAVY, 4wd and water resistant.
Really enjoyed it this week.
Avoid the Joe Piscopo show about construction equipment like the plauge though. Miserable.

I haven't watched a whole episode before, but this week was good. The American entry was particularly impressive in that it was a true custom build with some interesting features. The Brit version was just a stripped-down military vehicle--not exactly sporting.
After this show, what's next?

Sid- If Cathy Rogers is that old british co-host from Junkyard Wars that's annoying and wears too much eye makeup, then I have to disagree with you about her being a "hottie". In fact, I've always found her quite repulsive. Yesterday I flipped by TLC and caught a minute of Full Metal Challenge, and she was interviewing this female driver of one of the cars. The female driver was sweatty, overweight and also sporting too much eye makeup, which was smeared all over her face. I'm sorry, but this had to be one of the ugliest interviews in the history of television. TLC: Known for thought provoking educational programming, not for attractive women. To each his own I suppose.

Actually My background is English (waaaayyyyy back) and I absolutely loath England (was just there a couple of weeks ago) However, I love Ireland and wish I could move there tommorow. Great place to drive a p-car BTW, while you wouldnt stand out with an aggresive driving style, it could be humiliating as you get passed by a Ford Festiva. Those Irish have different ideas about safe driving.
And I resent those comments about Cathy rogers!!!!

I was browsing some dufus online forum recently and someone had a large pic of him in their signature. Someone asked who it was, and another responded that it looked like a new host on the Discovery channel. Somehow I find it hard to imagine Henry Rollins being "that guy from the Discovery channel." He has always seemed to me like "the guy who transcended his band to be considered worldwide as the ultimate bad *** cool dude... say no to crack or I'll break your f**kin face kind of guy."

Some friends of mine actually played with them at a gig. They sid the wierdest thing was after Henry got off stage he started eating Tofu.
Interesting guy. The story he tells about his friend being shot is thought provoking.

A friend of mine is a huge rollins fan, not so much for his bands (IMHO his bands sucked bad) but for his spoken word tours / books. He even stalked him a few times after shows and got pictures taken with him.

Well, if you like Cathy Rogers (or if you don't mouser..., maybe this will change your mind), Maxim ran an issue with her in it a few months ago (I say a few months, but I'm catching up through so many back issues, it coulda been last november!). She's a hottie, OH YES, a REAL HOTTIE.
Anyway, now you all know what I subscribe to (and I purchase the special newsstand editions)..

Sid--
You're right about the Irish driving style. I was driving a brand-new Toyota something-or-other (not sold in US) south from Dublin through the Wicklow mountains--very windy, hilly, awesome views but you need to be very aware. I was pushing the limits of my comfort level (tires squealing et cet), while being tailgated by a damn VW Transporter.
The **** passed me around a curve and took off.

Maxim!! How much you want for that issue.
Ken.
I've been in those mountains. At night. Yess attention needs to be paid. Did you see the warning painted in the road before a hairpin turn "SLOW DOWN" I was terrified at that point and doing about 10mph, so I slowed to 5. About a 1/4 of a mile down the road was another warning. "EVEN SLOWER"
Anyways I was going North up the Dublin road to fly home. Once again at my comfort level. Squealing around corners. On the lookout for sheep on the road and the like. Really driving at about 5mph of the very edge.
This damn Festiva comes up behind me. Tails me for a mile or so, then just pulls oput to the right, on a turn and keeps going past me.
