Fire pics
Well here's some pics of the fateful day at TWS when my car caught fire. There are some general shots from before the fire and then the rest show the damage and where its heading nowadays.
Its been a whole lot of cleaning up so far. I really never want to see a dry chemical extinguisher again. That stuff gets every where and its just nasty what it does when its mixed with heat and oil or whatever.

Its hard to be 100% certain because of the damage caused by the fire but the cause of the fire seems to have been the fuel rail lifting of an injector due to a failed fuel rail to manifold bolt.

Ugh.... looks nasty, but not too bad all at the same time. Interesting to see how much the fire was blown onto the master cylinder / evap controls. Were you at high speed when it happened?
You have a great start on it... it took me 2 months to get to where you have it. This could be a rebuild record.
Oh, you gonna pull the pan? With the melted oil control canister, I would.

Ouch..Sorry to hear...
When/IF my car is straight / driveable again I'm definetely going to double check all fuel related bolts/connections...
AND I'm gonna toss my dry chem extuinguisher and pick up a Halon...

Halon is definitely the way to go. I will prolly even go so far as to put one of those in-car extinguishers in this time around and I already have another 5lb halon hand held extinguisher. Oh and I think I will keep a brick in the car as well, if I see any body coming at my car with a dry chemical extinguisher I will hurl the brick at them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Very sorry to see another 951 see the wrath of flame. Good luck in whatever you decide to do from here, although its a group I wish I wasn't a member of you just joined the "my 951 caught on fire club".
We are a small group I feel, but it will harden your resolve and Perry has proved it can drive us to do great things....

Ouch! OZ, glad to see the damage is just to the car though. Let me know if you need any help with the rebuild. Joyce and I would welcome the opportunity to assist (even though it looks like you've got it well in hand).

All of the next round of mods are aimed not at gaining more power but getting to it faster or improving the safety of the car (faster revving, better boost control etc). As of today it seems that the insurance has been sorted out favourably and I can start forking out the $$ for the next round of mods. Man, I can't wait to get the car back on the road. I have to delay things for a month while I go back to Oz to take care of some things but after that it will be straight back to the garage to get her back into shape. with any luck it will be an August DE at TWS for OZ 951.
