We had our early 944 there for service once, but
they weren't much help ... $600 and nothing fixed.
The problems they looked at were 1) gas fumes near the rear, and 2) runs hot. I'm not so sure that I'd recommend them, but you'd think that a Porsche dealer would have all the answers. I guess that's not the case for these older cars. They do have a good parts counter ... helped us thru our rebuild last year with some misc parts. But, if all they're going to do is the clutch, I guess I'd trust them, though you may spent a bit more that a non-dealer.

I wouldn't recommend them. I have no personal experience with Dover Auto, but a friend of mine with an A4 Audi has had terrible service and shoddy work from them.
There is a good independent shop in Concord NH - Northern European. They started out as mostly Porsche mechanics and then migrated over to mostly Audi. They will work on Porsches however. As always YMMV.

Autohause North is a good shop. My parents have taken their Mercedece there ever since i can remember. He's a great guy and knows German cars in and out. I havn't taken my 944 their yet but I know he has one he's planning to get going at some point. I'm not sure how his prices are, but I doubt my parents would take their cars there if they weren't reasonable. I do know he does very good work as he has worked on my 300E. The guys name is Klaus and his number is (603)673-3559 if you're intersted. It's on Route 101A in Amherst, NH.

Northern European's phone number is 603-228-0533. The owner is Tim Mclean. If you call and would like to mention the referral please by all means do it. My only affiliation with them is some VW repairs and inspections for my 944. While not cheap, their mechanics are well qualified, honest, and don't take short cuts.
Autohaus is owned by my friend's wife's uncle (did you get all that?). To the best of my knowledge they are not a Porsche shop. Once in a great while they will have a Porsche for sale, but they cater mostly to Mercedes.
